Suzanne Sheehan Kirby, daughter of Richard and Dorothy (nee Frantz) Sheehan, passed away on July 8, 2018.

Suzanne and her husband Dr. George Kirby celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in November. Born in Lakewood and a longtime Cleveland resident, Suzanne was the loving mother of Katie, of Bay Village; and Sarah Herr of San Diego. She survived by her son-in-law Chris Herr and beloved grandsons Myles, Max and Becket – in addition to her siblings Beth Lucas of Chicago; Anne Kelly of Lakewood; Richard Sheehan of Rocky River and Julie Walborn of Fairview Park.

Suzanne was a devoted mother and grandmother, known as “Lily” to her grandsons and her faithful Havanese, Charley. She adored her friends and family and enjoyed sunsets at Clifton Beach and Higgins Lake, Michigan.

Suzanne dedicated her life to education, most recently as a teacher at Eleanor Gerson School in Cleveland. She was a friend and mentor to many students who found joy and comfort in her compassion, kindness and inclusivity. She was full of light and love, and those who knew her will forever miss her grace and humor.

Suzanne was an amazing teacher. Her light shined down many a dark tunnel for her students- like me for example. My thoughts and prayers will be with her family, peers, and friends.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss and am so blessed to have known such an amazing woman (and family). I cannot even begin to count the great memories I have with your family and I cherish them all from stories of our parents as neighbors and our moms' soup can and string "phone", to our Christmas gift exchanges, to seeing them at the lake. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I love you all dearly! xo
