Margaret Catherine Aldrich (nee Stefanic) passed away July 5, 2016 at the age of 91. She was the loving wife of the late Wilson Howard Aldrich, and wonderful mother to Thomas Aldrich (wife Debra Renkel), Catherine Straub (husband Joe), Donald (dec.) and Debra Patterson. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Molly Harris (Dan) and James Patterson, Jason Straub and Amy Straub, and Emily Aldrich and Rachel Aldrich, as well as four greatgrandsons: Jeffry and Logan Harris, and Max and Jacoby Patterson, and a host of nieces and nephews from her late sisters Marie Shaver, Otilia Juby, Lydia Murch and brother Edward Stefanic. Margaret was born in Cleveland in 1924, and graduated from Collinwood High School in 1942. She went to work for United Airlines as a radio operator, and that is where she met her husband Wilson. They were married in 1947 at the Old Stone Church in downtown Cleveland, and in 1952 moved to the house they built by hand in Westlake. Margaret became an active member of both their church family at Westlake United Methodist Church, and the volunteer opportunities at Westlake schools. Margaret was a Girl Scout leader, PTA member and Music Boosters member and faithfully attended every home football game to cheer on the marching band, as well as every choir and band concert her children performed in, and she looked forward to baking cakes for Music a la Mode each year. School carnivals found her working as the pocket lady, and she and Wilson spent hours plotting out routes and coordinating sales teams for the annual Music Boosters calendar sale. At church, she was a Sunday School teacher, an active member of United Methodist Women and the Quilters, and a devoted fan of the choirs and the Performing Arts Series. She could always be found lending a hand in the church kitchen, whether for a Boy Scout Baked Bean Supper or a UMW luncheon, and her homebaked bread and apple pies were soughtafter items at various fundraisers. A memorial service will be held at Westlake United Methodist Church 27650 Center Ridge Rd, Westlake, Ohio, 44145 (440)(871-3088) at 2pm on Sunday, July 24, 2016
